NYK Selected for FTSE4Good Index for 16th Straight Year and FTSE Blossom Japan Index for Second Consecutive Year

July 2, 2018

NYK has been selected by FTSE Russell* as a constituent in the FTSE4Good Index, marking the 16th straight year that the company has been included in this major evaluation benchmark to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices. In addition, NYK has been included in the FTSE Blossom Japan Index for the second consecutive year.

The FTSE4Good Index is a leading indicator used by investors who place importance on corporate social responsibility and sustainability.
The FTSE Blossom Japan Index which uniquely constructed industry neutral, provides market participants with a tool to identify and measure the performance of Japanese companies that demonstrate strong ESG practices. Last year, the Government Pension Investment Fund for Japan, one of the world’s largest pension funds, selected the FTSE Blossom Japan Index as one of the benchmark for its ESG investment strategy. This is not the only example, and the index is used widely for sustainable Investing funds and other financial instruments.

In accordance with the new medium-term management plan “Staying Ahead 2022 with Digitalization and Green” announced in March, NYK integrated ESG principles into management strategies. NYK continues to contribute to the sustainable development of society and enrichment of the company’s corporate value by addressing social and environmental issues though its business.
