- Emphasis Placed on Creating Value -
August 10, 2017
The 2017 report emphasizes “creating value” and examines value-creation for stakeholders within a challenging operating environment from three perspectives: enhancing our ability to create value, initiatives for creating value, and foundations for creating value.
In the report’s “Message from the President,” NYK president Tadaaki Naito positions fiscal 2017 as a year for making a fresh start for achieving new growth, and emphasizes strategic management and concerted efforts to enhance the NYK Group’s ability to create value and improve the company’s performance and results.
The report also features a special discussion on today’s technical challenges associated with IoT. In this segment, Masaru Kitsuregawa, director general of Japan’s National Institute of Informatics, which is recognized as a leader in the field of information and communication technology, assesses NYK’s big data applications and the company’s future outlook.
A later section features a discussion between NYK outside directors Yoshihiro Katayama and Yukio Okamoto about various issues and their assessments of NYK’s businesses and management.
NYK’s initiatives to address issues in cooperation with partners that challenge our society, including SDGs,* can also be found in the report.
