NYK Announces Introduction of Bengal Arabian Service (BAS)

NYK is pleased to announce a new West Asia service, the Bengal Arabian Service (BAS), together with partners Evergreen Marine Corp. (Taiwan), and Simatech Shipping Pte. Ltd. (Singapore).
 
This weekly service is unique in that it is the only service in the market directly connecting Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India, and Pakistan. This will also be the first time for NYK to deploy a containership to the port of Chittagong, and we will also be a part of the diversification of the service by deploying a ship for its feeder service.The BAS service will commence from June 27 when the first voyage vessel arrives at Chittagong.
 
We will continue to make every effort to further strengthen our service network to best meet the needs of our growing customer base.
 
Bengal Arabian Service (BAS)
 
Service Summary: weekly service with 4 x 1,700 TEU (nominal) vessels. One of these vessels will be provided by NYK.
 
Port Rotation: Chittagong (Bangladesh) – Colombo (Sri Lanka) – Karachi (Pakistan) – Mundra (India) – Colombo – Chittagong
 
Voyage Commencement: Arriving at Chittagong on June 27, 2013
