In 1975, the United Nations designated March 8 as International Women's Day to improve women's status and expand their roles. JPX is aligned with these principles and has thus held a “Ring the Bell for Gender Equality” ceremony since 2018 together with stock exchanges around the world. This year, female executives from the private sector and event sponsors were invited, with Tsutsui participating as a board member of the Global Compact Network Japan*, one of the sponsors.

As part of NYK’s International Women's Day initiatives, we distribute video seminars on women's health issues and offer a collaborative menu at the company cafeteria. In addition, we position diversity and inclusion as one of our important management strategies, and we issued NYK’s D&I Promise in September 2024 and the president's message on gender diversity in October of the same year. Through these efforts, which are the basis for all employees to cooperate and realize their full potential, we encourage our diverse workforce to fulfill our social mission of "Bringing value to life.”

Global Compact Network Japan is the Japan regional network of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the world's largest sustainability initiative. The UNGC advocates 10 principles related to the protection of human rights, the elimination of unfair labor practices, environmental responsibility, and the prevention of corruption to build a healthy global society where the UN and the private sector (companies and organizations) work hand in hand. NYK endorsed the UNGC in 2006 and has been promoting voluntary efforts to act as a good corporate citizen and achieve sustainable growth.
