NYK Participates in International Conference on Business and Human Rights

Introduction of Group's human rights due diligence initiatives

On October 24 and 25, NYK participated in the "Dialogue on Business and Human Rights" and the "2024 International Conference on Business and Human Rights in Tokyo" (international conference) organized by the non-profit Caux Round Table Japan* (CRT Japan).

At the dialogue on the 24th, NYK Executive Officer Yuko Tsutsui and others explained the NYK Group's efforts to respect human rights and discussed with overseas experts issues such as the operation of a grievance mechanism, internal awareness-raising, and information disclosure.

Tsutsui also presented at the international conference on the 25th, introducing the NYK Group's human rights due diligence efforts, focusing on human rights impact assessments and ongoing follow-up in the auto logistics and ocean transport industries. This international conference is held annually as a forum for companies to learn how to effectively implement the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (the UN Guiding Principles) and find concrete solutions. The conference includes panel discussions by overseas experts** and presentations on examples of efforts by Japanese companies.

The NYK Group has established the NYK Group Human Rights Policy based on the UN Guiding Principles and will continue to promote effective respect for human rights through dialogue with experts, in addition to the dissemination of information and exchange of opinions at international conferences.
