NYK has made donations to three charities engaged in environmental conservation activities.
NYK has a volunteer point system that was introduced in 2014 to encourage greater participation by the group’s officers and employees in activities that contribute to society. Points are granted for each form of contribution made, and the company then tallies the points annually, converts them to a monetary amount, and makes donations to each NPO/NGO organization.
During the 2022 calendar year, 391 officers and employees from 28 group companies participated in this volunteer system.
"Individual Awards" were presented to the top three employees who engaged in volunteer activities at various sporting events, including employees who provided sports coaching to children, and "Special Awards" were presented to employees who volunteered to run international exchange events.
In addition, Mitsubishi Ore Transport Co. Ltd., Asahi Shipping Co. Ltd., and YCS Co. Ltd. received the top three Group Awards for their active participation.
NYK president Hitoshi Nagasawa spoke at the ceremony, commenting, “The NYK Group promotes ESG management and aims to conduct its business activities while contributing to society. The volunteer points are the result of the NYK Group, which is supported by various stakeholders in society, establishing a framework for social contribution through the NYK Group Sustainability Initiatives and making good use of it.”
NYK will make every effort to remain a good corporate citizen and promote ESG management by working to solve various social issues.
