The NYK Group would like to offer its sincerest condolences to all those who have been displaced or have lost friends or family members as a result of the earthquake that struck Indonesia’s West Java area on November 21.

In response, NYK will be donating 3 million yen to the Palang Merah Indonesia to help the victims and towns recover.

NYK has established a deep relationship with Indonesia through energy transportation, vehicle transportation, logistics, and terminal and harbor transport businesses that have been developed in Indonesia since 1983, when the company began transporting liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Indonesia to Japan.

NYK has also aimed to contribute to Indonesia by training higher quality seafarers and creating employment opportunities, and in 2021, the first Indonesian captain and chief engineer of an NYK LNG carrier were appointed.

The NYK Group wishes for a quick recovery of the area.
