On January 19, NYK president Hitoshi Nagasawa gave a speech at the CDP 2021 A-List Company Awards.
The awards ceremony was held by online for Japanese companies that had been selected as A-list winners in the categories of "Climate Change," "Water Security," and "Forests" by CDP,* an international environmental non-profit organization.
Of the approximately 12,000 companies worldwide that were evaluated, 200 companies were selected for the Climate Change A-List, including 56 Japanese companies and two shipping companies as of January 19.
President Nagasawa expressed his gratitude for being selected for the A-List for the second year in a row and explained that the NYK Group is addressing climate change through the company’s long-term goal of "achieving net zero emissions by 2050" for the NYK Group's oceangoing business (announced in September 2021), and that cooperation with stakeholders is essential to control climate change.

--------------
It is a great honor to receive the A-list certification again after last year, and I would like to share the joy with the entire NYK Group. The NYK Group has been making various efforts to achieve zero emissions from its ships, and in September last year, we set a long-term goal for our oceangoing business to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
The fact that we have been certified as an A-list company again is a recognition of the efforts of the entire NYK Group, including our daily efforts to reduce GHG emissions.
At the same time, we believe that cooperation with our stakeholders is important in our efforts to address climate change. We will further accelerate our efforts with stakeholders and lead the decarbonization of the entire global supply chain.
--------------
On February 3, 2021, NYK released the NYK Group ESG Story, which aims to further integrate ESG into the company’s management strategy and promotes activities that contribute to the achievement of the SDGs through business activities. Moreover, in September we set a long-term target of net-zero emissions of greenhouse gas (GHG) by 2050 for the NYK Group's oceangoing businesses. The NYK Group will continue to strive to disclose relevant information as a global leader in addressing climate change, and to create new value as a sustainable solution provider needed by society and industry.
