NYK participated in the International Conference on Fuel Ammonia 2021 held on October 6 and talked about marine transportation of ammonia and its use as a marine fuel, which would be essential in building a supply chain for fuel ammonia.
This conference was held with the aim of strengthening the foundation for international public-private partnerships to build a stable and flexible market and supply chain for fuel ammonia, which would be effective in combating global warming.
Toshi Nakamura, an NYK executive officer, took the stage in the “industrial session.” He spoke about the supply of fuel ammonia as a means of realizing a CO2-free society, in addition to issues related to the introduction of marine fuel ammonia in the shipping industry. He explained that Japan is working together with the public and private sectors to address these issues. He also introduced NYK’s specific efforts to introduce fuel ammonia.
On February 3, NYK announced the NYK Group ESG Story,* which aims to further integrate ESG into the company’s management strategy. In particular, NYK considers the reduction of GHG emissions to be an important issue and is working to create new green businesses through various research projects aimed at decarbonization. To strongly promote ESG management, the NYK Group will encourage new value creation as a sustainable solution provider through a business strategy that responds to climate change.
