Talia, a pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) operated by NYK, rescued three yachtsmen in distress off the coast of Hawaii on June 18.
While Talia was sailing from the U.S. West Coast to Yokohama, Japan, the vessel received a request at around 7:30 a.m. (local time) from the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center in Honolulu to assist a yacht in distress approximately 1,015 nautical miles off the northeast coast of Hawaii.
The ship immediately set a course for the yacht and rescued the three yachtsmen at around 8:00 a.m. The rescued yachtsmen are in good health and disembarked from Talia at Yokohama on July 1 and then return home.
