A total of 20 NYK Group employees and their family members participated in the “Japan Walk in Tokyo 2019 Spring” held on May 25 to deepen their understanding of the benefits of an inclusive society where everyone can live comfortably. The walk took place in the Tokyo Bay area, one of two zones hosting most of the events in next year’s Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The gathering aimed to foster an inclusive society where everyone can live comfortably regardless of disability. Fine weather welcomed about 4,600 walkers, who joined 30 Olympic and Paralympic athletes, including Aki Taguchi, an NYK employee and Paralympian in the sport of shooting, for a pleasant day by the bay.
Taguchi talked with participants, posed for photographs, and even showed children how interesting the para-sport wheelchair basketball can be.
NYK will continue to help employees raise awareness of para-sports, and to realize an inclusive society where everyone can live comfortably.
