Schoolteachers Spend Two Days in Study at NYK
October 25, 2016
On August 23 and 24, nine elementary and junior high school teachers from the Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education participated in an NYK program for teachers to promote their understanding of corporate activities.
This training program was held during the schools’ summer vacation to deepen the teachers’ understanding of human resources development and environmental measures, some of which could be used in future school management. This is the 22nd year for NYK to provide this program, which was arranged in cooperation with the Japan Institute for Social and Economic Affairs.
The program included lectures about the NYK Group’s business and environmental measures. In addition, the participants stopped by Japan Marine Science Inc., an NYK Group company, to experience its ship-handling simulator, and also visited the NYK Maritime Museum, the museum-ship Hikawa Maru, and Oi Port Container Terminal.
Some feedback received from participants included the following:
--"I felt closer to the shipping industry, which is supporting our daily life.”
--“I enjoyed learning about jobs that we are not so familiar of.”
--“If students experience this, they will like the sea and ships more.”

NYK, as a good corporate citizen, will continue to provide programs that contribute to our society.
