Schoolteachers Spend Two Days in Study at NYK
August 4, 2015
On July 23 and 24, NYK welcomed 10 elementary and junior high school teachers from Tokyo for a program to promote their understanding of corporate activities.
This training program was held during the schools’ summer vacation to deepen the teachers’ understanding of human resources development and environmental measures, some of which could be used in future school management. This is the 21st year for NYK to provide this program, which was arranged in cooperation with the Japan Institute for Social and Economic Affairs.
The program included lectures about the NYK Group’s business, environmental measures, and CSR activities. In addition, the participants stopped by Japan Marine Science Inc., an NYK Group company, to experience its ship-handling simulator and also visited the NYK Maritime Museum and the museum-ship Hikawa Maru.
During the lecture
Some feedback received from participants included the following:
--“I learnt many things and thought again about a teacher’s everyday duties and how to interact with students.”
--"I realized that transportation by ships supports our daily life and industry.”
--"The lecture on safety management while handling a ship helped me learn again the importance of communication.”
NYK, as a good corporate citizen, will continue to provide programs that contribute to our society.
