NYK has acquired 30 percent ownership of the CSI (Consorcio de Servicios Internacionales S.A. de C.V.) Group, a finished-car logistics company, and begun to participate in the CSI Group's business. A signing ceremony was held at the NYK head office in Tokyo and attended by Leon Antonio Flores Elizondo, CEO of the CSI Group, and NYK president Yasumi Kudo, among others.
In Mexico, the export of finished cars is rapidly increasing, and a number of automobile companies are making plans to construct and expand plants. In addition, domestic sales are contributing to the country's strong economic performance and expected to grow in the future.
NYK will attempt to accommodate that strong demand by providing total logistics that includes inland logistics and sea transport in cooperation with the CSI Group, which is recognized for its strength in the inland logistics of finished cars.
